As part of our ‘Heimat Adventure’ series of events, you will visit the Alvenslebenstollen in Burglahr.
The Alvenslebenstollen in Burglahr, a mining jewel, is a water extraction tunnel of the Louise mine, which was built from 1835-1864. It was named after Albrecht Graf von Alvensleben (former Prussian Minister of Finance).
You can experience a piece of history along the dead straight course of a total of 1546 metres, 400 metres of which are accessible to visitors: There are Gedingepflöcke, Lachter plaques documenting the construction progress and evidence of the later blasting work with black powder.
There are also beautiful mineralogical features, such as malachite and chrysocolla efflorescence.
As there is currently no power supply in the Alvensleben gallery, the tour will most likely take place by torchlight. Please bring a torch and sturdy shoes.
