CARA is a multinational Celtic folk band that has won two Irish Music Awards. The musicians come from Ireland, Scotland and Germany and enjoy an excellent reputation for their innovative arrangements, original compositions and songwriting, virtuoso performances and charismatic stage presence. They create their own sound, in which the voices of the two singers Gudrun Walther and Kim Edgar take centre stage. The vocal spectrum ranges from dreamy ballads and archaic Gaelic mouth music to their own songs with a current socio-political reference, with the two lead singers Gudrun Walther and Kim Edgar always complementing each other with somnambulistic confidence. The songs alternate with fast-paced instrumental pieces that thrive on the virtuoso interplay of fiddle and uilleann pipes. The Irish bagpipes, which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, are played by Cara newcomer Simon Pfisterer, who studied this extraordinary instrument at the University of Limerick. Gudrun Walther's elegant and expressive fiddle playing has been highly praised by the specialised press at home and abroad. What also makes CARA special is the interaction between guitar and piano and the band's unusual, rhythmically and harmonically rich arrangements. They bear the signature of Jürgen Treyz, guitarist, producer and musical mastermind of the band, and from the opener to the encore, CARA's concerts are full of highlights, not least thanks to the thrilling solos contributed by each band member, always surprising the audience with new sounds. Rounded off by the charming and humorous presentation, an evening with Cara guarantees maximum musical enjoyment and entertainment. Tours and acclaimed concerts in the USA, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, France, Benelux, Austria, Italy and Switzerland are proof of the band's success story.
