The singer and guitarist Claudia Sofia lives in Mindelo/Cabo Verde and is a regular guest on the stages of the music clubs in this harbour city, which is often referred to as the cultural capital of Cape Verde.
On her first tour in Germany she will be accompanied by the multi-instrumentalist Lucio Vieira, whose musical genius can be heard on the CDs of Lura, Sarah Tavares, Nancy Viera, Tito Paris, Vlu and many others. The drummer is Markus Leukel, who has lived in Mindelo since 2010 and is well known in this country thanks to his numerous tours with Cape Verdean musicians.
Claudia's songs are deeply rooted in the musical tradition of her Cape Verdean homeland, while at the same time her openness to elements of Brazilian and European-American music culture, including classical music, is unmistakable. She sings about life and love on the island archipelago off the coast of West Africa, where a unique Creole culture has developed over the past 500 years.
