The church is the site of an old Trinity pilgrimage.
From a single-nave building around 1000, the walls of the nave stand with visible herringbone masonry (south side).
From an extension building around 1250 with a choir tower, a semicircular apse, side aisles in timber framing, and higher nave walls come
the lateral arcade openings and the higher small round-arched windows of the former upper gallery. Traces of renovations from
the Gothic period can be seen in the historical southern wall.
The Protestant church in Dreifelden is around 1000 years old, making it one of the oldest churches in the entire Westerwald.
