The three youth workers - Hannah Horsch, Ramona Zirfas and Vanessa Neumann - are very happy about the video solution. After all, they can only do a little during the shutdown to replace the regular meetings at the JuZ at Neustraße 39 in Westerburg. Johannes Schmidt (cultural office of the Westerburg association municipality) was happy to lend a hand financially and made the production possible. A song leads to the Rebel School The video film, which lasts about 20 minutes, is shot before Easter in the Alte Schmiede in Enspel. All participants are tested and wear masks. Attention is paid to keeping a distance and airing. Filmmaker Jörg Sartorius is very pleased with the authors, who work with great concentration. Rebel School by Janina Janina Nilges (15) presents her book "Rebel School - Dangerous Secret". About the content: Imagine a society that judges you by a style of music. When Rose is officially assigned her song, it is not what she expected as a princess. She has to flee and finds refuge in a boarding school that takes in people like her: Rebels. She is not entirely welcome here, and then her boyfriend of many years is poisoned.... The 360 pages read quickly and excitingly. The young author, who has been writing stories for years, shapes the novel with special, creative ideas. Film shooting: a great experience for the young author "Very nice! That was a cool experience," says Janina Nilges, during a telephone conversation after the filming. It was new for her. And as a novelist making her debut, she has only held a few readings so far anyway. Although Jörg Sartorius works alone and not with large film cameras, the essentials remain the same: if something is wrong - light, noise, empty battery, slip of the tongue - the setting or the respective topic has to be repeated completely. "But that's possible," says Janina, who feels like she's in a tunnel while reading, completely fixated on what she's doing. And Jörg was surprised how quickly the shooting for the video production went. Her first volume of "Rebel School" was published in 2020. And the second Rebel book, "Wanted dead or alive", is due out in May. She has already designed this cover in style as well. Last October she published her novella "White Lilies Manor" (80 pages) in English under the pseudonym Janina Raven. Just reading the synopsis puts one in suspense. There are challenges at every age Ellen Kirst and her "Falcon Summer It's a good thing Ellen Kirst contacted the Youth Welfare Office. Because she got the idea for the reading going in the first place. The teacher (41 years old) lives in Montabaur with her family. She has always been fascinated by myths and folk tales. Born in Koblenz, she likes to be inspired by the Middle Rhine. "Falkensommer" is essentially set at Burg Maus in St. Goarshausen. The legends, the castles, the Rhine mysticism are in her blood. In "Falkensommer" a 15-year-old girl plays the main role. "It is an adventure book with fantasy elements," explains Ellen Kirst, who published the novel under the pseudonym Anna Maria Pieroth. The love story is not in the foreground, although the main character dares to fight evil for 18-year-old Miro. "The theme is basically to overcome, to start something new. That happens in life all the time," Ellen describes. Although initially written for young adults, it thus becomes an all-ages book. The development story of "Falkensommer" Ellen developed the idea for the book back in 2013 during her parental leave, because it gave her the right leisure. And she had already acquired the necessary tools: "I took part in a novel workshop for two years, which was supposed to end with a novel." But she is not planning a second book at the moment. "I like to go hiking in my spare time. I like the forests and their legends here." She refers to the path "Montabäurer Mären", which is well presented on the internet. On other paths through the Westerwald, too, she keeps coming across old legends that appeal to her. And she is sure that they will inspire her to write a novel at some point. She found the filming work for the video film really great, all the more so since many cultural institutions are not offering anything at the moment. "I already knew the Stöffel Park, it's a great site. But I've never been to the Schmiede," she says, praising the ambience there.
