Every year from the beginning of May to the end of September, the museum barn is open to all interested parties on all public holidays and every first and third Sunday of the month from 14:00 to 17:00. The dates can also be found in the Helmenzen local authority calendar.
Visiting the museum barn is free of charge, but donations are welcome.
There is a lot to discover from the past during a visit to the museum barn. The exhibition extends over two floors and offers a variety of insights into times gone by.
Tools for tilling the fields, workshop equipment, old household appliances and tools of the trade, but also interesting individual pieces of a manager's room from the turn of the century and other pieces of furniture from the past can be found here. Three detailed rooms (kitchen, living room, bedroom) show how people lived in the Westerwald more than 100 years ago.
In 2023, the exhibition was redesigned and supplemented with information boards, QR codes and film presentations on old crafts. Now you can watch a film right next to the exhibits showing how the respective objects were used in the past. An exciting journey into the living past.
