Hachenburg

Permanent exhibition on the city's history

Brief description

Hachenburg Anno Domini 1314
Permanent exhibition on the history of the city in the historical vaulted cellar

Detailed description

Since the 700th anniversary of the granting of town rights in 2014, the historic vaulted cellar of the house Perlengasse 2 has housed a small exhibition on various aspects of the town's history. Starting with the beginnings of Hachenburg and the old town in the High Middle Ages, the time journey leads through the Lion City to the present. From archaeological finds to remains of the wooden water pipe, a model of the town, the previously well-kept Schöffenkiste, and a battalion flag from the Napoleonic Wars, the exhibits document the eventful history of Hachenburg. A visit to the vaulted cellar is possible as part of city tours or by arrangement.

Further information about the exhibition and the town's history is provided by the city archive located at Perlengasse 2 (j.friedhoff@stadtarchiv-hachenburg.de).
