With the Poppenturm, a remnant of the Hachenburg city wall has been preserved, which presumably
already existed before 1292 and protected the city from enemies during the turbulent times
of the late Middle Ages as well as in the wars of the 17th and 18th centuries until its dismantling around 1830.
