On Sunday, 8 September 2024, it will once again be possible to visit various historical sites and learn about their history. This year, the motto of the day is: "True Signs. Contemporary witnesses of history". Find out why even everyday monuments can become sights and landmarks.
The Altenkirchen district register of monuments lists almost 150 cultural monuments in the Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld municipality. These include many private residences, churches, public buildings and the Prussian milestones on the B8 motorway, which were used to mark distances after 1815.
In addition to various Romanesque church buildings, the Bismarck Tower in Altenkirchen, the Raiffeisen Museum in Flammersfeld, the Elvis Museum near Kircheib and other monuments will also be open. In Ölsen-Friedenthal, a demonstration at the forge fire is also planned in the old smithy. You can find out who was there last year on the VG Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld homepage. There are also short films about various memorial sites that give a brief insight into the respective places.
