In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
Lovely river and stream valleys such as the Wiedtal and the Fockenbachtal alternate on our hike on the W2 with fantastic views of the heights of the Westerwald, for example the Bärenkopp at 304 metres above sea level. The wild Hochscheider Seifen, which we hike through after this expansive view, is a natural beauty with washed-out basalt basins and rock faces.
From Neuwied: L255 to Waldbreitbach
Bus route 130

Free car park Marktstraße, Waldbreitbach
From the free Marktstraße car park, we follow the WesterwaldSteig access path to the Wied. Here we go a little way to the right and left over the pedestrian bridge. On the other side of the Wied, we keep left and follow the W2, which soon runs a little above the Wied in the forest. It goes downhill again back to the Wied and over another bridge. We immediately turn right and come to the Kreuzkapelle chapel, built in 1694. After the chapel, turn left uphill along the L255 into the forest. We pass the cemetery (viewpoint) before the W2 behind the Marienhaus convent of the Franciscan nuns leads us past 2 shelters in an arc to Glockscheid. We pass the water tank and another refuge with a beautiful view. Shortly afterwards, we pass the Luh chapel and soon have a wonderful panoramic view. We continue along the Wäller Tour Bärenkopp for a short distance before turning right onto the W2, which leads us down into the lovely Fockenbach valley. Here we walk up the beautiful Verscheider Seifen to Verscheid. After the church, we cross the main road (Gasthof ‘Paganetti's Zur Erholung’ is a short distance above) and walk to the B1/W2 junction (the detour to the ‘Bärenkopp’ viewpoint is worthwhile - approx. 500 m). We follow the W2 downhill through the Hochscheider Seifen and pass the ‘Weißes Kreuz’ viewpoint (approx. 250 m junction). Continue downhill back to Waldbreitbach towards the Catholic church Maria Himmelfahrt and in the village back to the car park.
