Description

Beautiful path with opportunities to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the WällerLand. There are benches and rest areas. Backpack provisions are recommended. The path starts at the parking lot at the tourist information center at Wiesensee. There are parking spaces, toilets, tourist information and a cafe.

Approach

From Montabaur: drive through Westerburg, Hergenroth, Stahlhofen a.W., turn right to the WällerLand tourist information centre

From Siegen: through Rennerod, to Seck, to Winnen, then turn right to the WällerLand tourist information centre

From Limburg: Exit Gemünden, to Winnen, then left and after the village turn right to the WällerLand tourist information centre

Public transport

With line 116, for example, from the ICE station Montabaur to the bus stop Winner Ufer, Stahlhofen a.W. (https://fahrplan-bus-bahn.de/rheinland-pfalz/westerburg/bus_linie_bus_116#/)

with the Hessian State Railway (HBL) to Westerburg and from there by bus to Stahlhofen a.W. Winner Ufer, line 116

Parking

Large parking lot directly at the tourist information office. Parking is free!

Directions

The start is at the WällerLand tourist information centre at Wiesensee (TiWi). There is a large car park here. Then you walk along the golf meadows and you can watch people trying to drive the little white ball. From the top of the hill you can see as far as Winnen. In good weather, you can even see as far as the Taunus. There is a nice rest stop with a memorial hut at the top.

The trail continues towards Pottum and Harschbacher Feld, then through Halbs and leads to Hergenrother Kopf, where there are several viewpoints in a row. The Wäller Ruheweg trail then leads past the Liebfrauenkirche church, through Hergenroth and the "Eigen" forest to Stahlhofen. It then descends over the dam and back to the starting point.

Safety instructions

Due to repair work, the Wiesensee is currently not carrying any water!

Please remember to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes!
