City of Hachenburg

No other town in the Westerwald is as charming as the town of Hachenburg in the Rhineland-Palatinate Westerwald. The former residence of the Counts of Sayn is nestled in a fairytale landscape between the major German cities of Frankfurt and Cologne. The baroque charm, the lively cultural life and the hospitality of the people of the Westerwald win over locals and tourists alike with every visit. It's no wonder that many locals refer to the town as the secret cultural capital of the Westerwald.

Medieval charm

Surrounded by colourful half-timbered houses, basalt and slate, the listed town centre is adorned by the historic castle church and the baroque Franciscan church. As the town's landmark, the two-tailed golden lion watches over life on the old market square. This results in the princely splendour of the market, which is characteristic of the title of cultural metropolis of the Westerwald.
But hidden amidst the impressive architecture are little secrets around the old market square. The free-swinging clock is unique in the world and is hidden behind one of the numerous windows, a dreamy reading garden slumbers between winding alleyways and the town centre surprises with its diverse history in the form of aesthetic monuments.

My absolute favourite place:

The Hachenburg reading garden! It's great to have such an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. I can retreat here and unwind during my lunch break. The well-maintained green area with a beautiful meadow, a variety of flowers and sweet-smelling shrubs is the perfect retreat. The babbling of the fountain has a very calming effect and makes you forget all your worries.

Enjoy it!

Best wishes from the nicest place on earth
Lisa
