Successful RZ Winter Hiking Day 2026 inspires hiking enthusiasts in the Hachenburg Westerwald

Westerwald, 09.03.2026. Yesterday, Sunday, Hachenburg was once again transformed into a meeting place for hiking enthusiasts from the entire region: around 600 participants accepted the invitation to the RZ Winter Hiking Day and explored the varied landscape around the Lion City in spring-like temperatures. The event was jointly organized by the Rhein-Zeitung newspaper, Westerwald Touristik-Service, the Westerwald brewery, the Hachenburger Westerwald tourist information office and the Typisch Westerwald initiative. The starting and finishing point of all hikes was the Westerwald brewery site.

A special anniversary, a special experience: the Hachenburger Westerwald Tourist Information Office, in cooperation with the Westerwald District Music School, invites you to an extraordinary guided tour of the town on Saturday, April 18. Entitled "Hachenburger Klangspaziergang: Stadtführung der Sinne für Auge, Ohr und Gaumen", visitors can expect a musical and enjoyable journey of discovery through the historic old town of Hachenburg.

Vote now: Druidensteig nominated for "Germany's most beautiful hiking trail 2026"

Westerwald, 04.03.2026. The vote is now open: since the beginning of the week, it has been possible to vote for the Druidensteig as "Germany's most beautiful hiking trail 2026". The long-distance hiking trail, which runs in seven stages from Freusburg to Hachenburg, has been nominated by the jury of Wandermagazin from more than 100 entries. The 94-kilometre Georoute is competing in the category of multi-day tours.

Sustainable tourism in the Westerwald continues to gain in importance: with the tourist information office of the Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld municipality and the Charlotte vacation apartment in Hachenburg, two more players have been officially recognized as partners in the "Sustainable Destination Westerwald" network. During a joint presentation of certificates, the Westerwald Tourism Service recognized the consistent commitment of both partners to ecological responsibility, regional added value and social quality.

Trail sponsor (m/f/d) for the 7 Weiher hiking trail

Founded in 1975, the "Westerwald Lake District Development Association" is responsible for tourism development in the Westerwald Lake District region. The two municipalities of Hachenburg and Selters as well as the nearby local communities in the region are working on uniform tourism marketing beyond the boundaries of the towns and municipalities. The aim is to present the area, most of which has been declared a landscape or nature reserve, to locals and visitors from near and far in a beautiful setting.

Joint press release FEE Hachenburg, Tourist Information Hachenburger Westerwald and DsiN e.V. The Digital Angel, the mobile advice team on digital issues from Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V., will be making a stop in Hachenburg on December 5: A digital expert will be answering questions about online applications and new media free of charge from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Alter Markt 4-6. The Digital Angel is aimed specifically at older online and offline users who would like to deepen their digital knowledge.
